Instructions for Using the Online Discussion Group
This project's online discussion group, hosted by Yahoo, works much like email, except that the recipient list includes all
the participants in the incontinence management project. In other words, all email
messages sent to the discussion group will be distributed to all the project participants at
their own email addresses.
Sending Messages
Use your regular email service provider to send
new messages to the Incontinence Management Project's online discussion group. In the “To:” field, simply type in this address: pvproject_NHs@yahoogroups.com. When you send the message, it is automatically copied and sent to all the project participants, including the project staff members.
Receiving Messages
You can easily identify email messages in your Inbox that were sent from online discussion group. The message’s subject will be preceded by this identifier: (pvproject_NHs).
Responding to Messages
You can respond to messages from discussion group members just as you would to any email message: Once you receive a message from the discussion group, simply hit your “Reply” button. Notice that the discussion group address (pvproject_NHs@yahoogroups.com) now appears in the “To:” field. Type and send your reply message just as you would reply to any email message you receive.
When posting a message to the discussion group, be sure to include a short description of your topic in the subject line and include your name at the end of your message so your fellow project participants will know who sent the message.
If you wish to respond directly and only to the individual who sent a particular message, do not respond to the online discussion group. Doing so will result in all of the project members receiving your personal response. Rather, send the mail directly to the intended recipient by creating a new email message or changing the address in the To: field of your email message.
Privacy
This discussion group is a private group. Its members include only project participants--that is, the designated nurse supervisors at this project's participating nursing homes--and project staff. No one else can access messages sent to the discussion group and no one else can join the group.
